Mission is communicating the gospel through a specific culture’s language, symbols, and understanding of the world, so that it is understood better.  Mission is joining with God in what He is already doing in the world.  Mission is sharing the things that we love with others, because we genuinely love them (not because we are the ones who “have” and they are the “have-nots”). The goal is not to bring the poor into a middle-class life, which is just as dysfunctional as a life that is poor.  The goal of mission is to invite everyone into a new life in a new world, through the healing works of Christ.  This is the promise we have in Christ.
