FAQ

Success has always been difficult to measure in ministry.  Jesus was not successful in the world’s eyes.  In fact, He died on a cross, where failed, rebellious criminals ended up.  However, death did not stop Him, and He defeated death by coming back to life, turning the world’s standards of failure upside down.  His resurrection is ultimate success.

We plan on resurrections.  We plan on resurrections of real healing from real brokenness, so that the dead within people is washed away and replaced with new life.  Since this is a healing that can only come through the power of God, we cannot claim that as our success.  Our success will be in our faithfulness to God, to the relationships we have within the church and the city, and to our families.

Even though we cannot claim real healing as our success, we can expect it, because God is faithful to those who seek Him.  We do expect increased growth in discipleship, which should lead to increased examples of God’s work through those being discipled.  We expect there to be more involvement of church members in the downtown area.  We expect an increase in comfortable opportunities for both church members and city people to interact with each other, especially to talk about God’s Word for the world.  We expect conversions, both from non-Christians to Christianity, and from already-Christians to deeper understandings of what the gospel means for this world.
